Brompton folding Bicycles are as innovative as they are iconic. Bike owners champion them for the usability and the freedom they provide. The Brompton Dock opens up this experience to anyone, anytime.
Brompton Dock is a revolutionary bike hire scheme. The Dock itself is a smart store which holds up to 40 Brompton folding bikes. Members use an RFID smartcard to take a Brompton bike from the Dock, whenever they want, for as long as they want, and get charged based on use.
With just six weeks to go until the pilot launch, we were brought in to pull together an initial online identity, website and customer administration system. Working with the MD we quickly got to grips with the overall concept and then dug deeper into the service workflow for the Dock, bike tracking and customer billing/transaction administration systems.
We designed our solution on a ’requirements vs. time-to-launch‘ basis. We carefully planned functionality that we could implement within timescales and which would work alongside existing administration systems, defining admin and user interactions
in the process.
It was a very fast turn around for a job of this size but we loved the challenge as much as the bikes and we're already working on more exciting stuff with the Brompton team.
Still in a pilot stage, the first Dock was officially unveiled at Guildford Rail Station, in association with South West Trains,
on the 6th July.
